XR Twin 26.2: Smarter VR Interaction, Personalized Avatars, and Sharper Desktop Tools

With XRTwin 26.2, we continue to move toward a clear objective: making industrial simulation more accessible, more realistic, and easier to deploy at scale.

This new release is not about a single feature, but about a combination of improvements that, together, significantly enhance how teams navigate, edit, and personalize their digital twins, whether in virtual reality or on desktop.

Redesigned VR Navigation and Distant Manipulation

One of the key highlights of this version is a complete rework of VR navigation. Locomotion, distant manipulation and controller interactions have been redesigned from the ground up for smoother, more predictable movement in the virtual environment.

Navigation presets (default locomotion mode, navigation speed, range, and more) are now exposed directly in XRTwin settings, so users can tune the experience to their needs and account for a wide range of use cases: navigating large or small areas, multi-level environments, and more.

Hand switching is now automatic: XRTwin detects which hand or controllers you are using to interact and switches seamlessly, without changing settings or restarting the simulation.

Desktop Cutting Plane with Filled Surfaces

For desktop users, XRTwin 26.2 introduces a new cutting plane tool to inspect complex assemblies, with the ability to fill cut surfaces. Instead of a hollow cross-section, users now get a clean, filled view of the object’s interior, making inspection and analysis clearer and more intuitive.

Lightweight GLB/GLTF Export

Sharing digital twin content outside XRTwin is now easier. This release adds GLTF/GLB import and export, unlocking the ability to view 3D scenes directly on the web, along with a full set of export settings (compression, mesh merging, instance detection, deduplication, flattening, and small-mesh removal) to help teams generate lightweight, optimized files for external tools and stakeholders.

Personalize Your Presence

XRTwin 26.2 brings new ways to make the virtual experience your own. Avatar outfits can now display your company logo and brand colors, so every session reflects your organization’s identity.

We are also introducing the puppet manikin: a third-person avatar that can be instantiated directly from the VR menu, spawning in front of the player. This gives users an outside view of a scene or simulation, useful for reviews, training, and ergonomics studies, and it can now be positioned and manipulated during simulation.

Faster, More Precise Selection

Editing a complex scene starts with selecting the right object. XRTwin 26.2 introduces smart selection, which selects based on physics properties rather than raw mesh, so users land on the object that actually matters for the simulation.

A new object picker tool has also been added to editor fields (such as parent body), letting users pick objects directly in the scene instead of searching through the hierarchy.

Usability Improvements

Alongside these major evolutions, XRTwin 26.2 includes a wide range of improvements that contribute to a smoother daily experience.
